Job Summary
Through supervision of the maintenance department, the Plant Engineer ensures the safety and reliability of all plant equipment, processes, facilities and property of the Rolling Division, as well as planning and directing projects including capital equipment implementations, re-engineering of processes and equipment, supporting new product manufacturing integrations, and coordination of labor as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise and develop maintenance staff to ensure efficient operation of the manufacturing assets and facility
Enable cross-training and succession planning initiatives for direct reports
Oversee, manage and direct all maintenance procedures and operations
Consistently assess maintenance work processes to optimize efficiencies
Enforce all health and safety rules and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations according to legal mandates and company protocols
Manage preventive maintenance systems to minimize breakdowns and unscheduled repairs
Manages periodic shutdowns
Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions
Ensure full utilization of the EAM software
Provide technical engineering support to various departments as requested
Complete computer drafting and design work for projects
Updating, revising, and organizing existing drawing files
Required Knowledge, Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering; 15 years of demonstrated progressive maintenance and engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; or a similar combination of education and experience
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in a steel mill
Knowledge of industrial machinery and mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and schematics
Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
Problem solving ability
Ability to conduct root cause analysis & corrective actions
Ability to multi task

Computer proficiency with AutoCAD (or equivalent software suites including 2D and 3D drafting); maintenance-related inventory and scheduling software; and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word and
PowerPoint)
OSHA 10-hour certification, preferred
Physical Requirements/ Hazardous Working Conditions
The person holding this position spends the majority of his/her work day traversing the manufacturing floor, rail yard and property, all of which requires utilization of personal protective equipment in a safety-sensitive environment. Less than 40% of a work day includ3es periods of sedentary duty in an office environment.
